FRP components are the polymer that is reinforced with a fiber. FRP cooling towers exporters and manufacturers use these materials to construct robust and efficient cooling tower bodies. The major function of fiber reinforcement is to provide strength and stiffness in one direction and to carry load along the fiber length. FRP is a class of materials falls into a section known as composite materials.

Composite materials come in many grade qualities. These materials contain two or more materials that hold their own chemical and physical attributes when manufacturers combined them together. FRP composites are not similar to traditional materials used for construction like aluminum or steel.-

FRP composites are anisotropic while steel or aluminium is isotropic. This is why FRP composites properties are directional.

Composite Components

  • Fiber – Manufacturers’ choice of fibers influences the properties of composites. In civil engineering, there are three types of fibers – carbon, glass and aramid fibers. Composite fibers are also recognized by the reinforcing fiber, for instance CFRP for carbon fiber reinforced polymer.

These materials have distinct properties. Carbon fibers are the best materials used by manufacturers to strengthen their products. All fibers possess higher stress capacity as compared to normal steel. It is the stiffness and tensile strain properties that are different between the types of fibers.

  • Matrices – The matrix should be able to transfer forces between the fibers and protect them from the environment. Manufacturers often opt for thermosetting resins for civil engineering indsurty. Epoxy and vinyl ester are common matrices. Epoxy is the first choice and an expensive one. Epoxies are good in bond, strength, creep properties and chemical resistance features.

Distinct range of fiber reinforced polymers :

The different kinds of fiber reinforced polymer are carbon, glass fiber, ultra high molecular weight polyethylene, aramid, polyester, polypropylene, and nylon. Any change to the properties of these fibers can be done with the help of raw materials and the temperature at which fiber is developed.

There are glass fiber reinforced polymers, carbon fiber reinforced polymer, and aramid fiber reinforced polymer.

There are multiple benefits of using FRP materials for production purposes-

  • FRP has capability to provide maximum material stiffness
  • FRP has high fatigue endurance limits
  • The materials are powerful to absorb impact energies
  • The corrosion potential is reduced
  • Joints and fasteners are simplified or eliminated

These are the reasons why FRP cooling towers manufacturers and exporters are using such grade of FRP materials to construct robust cooling tower models for industries.
